Dymaxion map - The Dymaxion map of the Earth is a projection of a global map onto the surface of a three-dimensional regular solid, which can then be unfolded to a net in many different ways and flattened to form a two-dimensional map which retains most of the relative proportional integrity of the globe map. It was created by Buckminster Fuller, and patented by him in 1946, the patent application showing a projection onto a cuboctahedron.
Reversed map - A reversed map, also known as an Upside-Down map or South-Up map, is a world map that generally show Australia and New Zealand at the top of the map instead of the bottom. They are usually sold in Australia, New Zealand and other southern hemisphere countries.
Geologic map - A geologic map is a special-purpose map made for the purpose of showing subsurface geological features. In the United States, geologic maps are usually superimposed over a topographic map (and at times over other base maps) with the addition of a color mask with letter symbols to represent the kind of geologic unit, stratigraphic contour lines, fault lines, strike and dip symbols, and various additional symbols as indicated by the map key.
Choropleth map - A choropleth map (Greek χωρα, area, region + πληθαίνω multiply) is a map in which areas are shaded or patterned in proportion to the measurement of the statistical variable being displayed on the map, such as population density or per-capita income. It provides an easy way to visualize how a measurement varies across a geographic area.

Many maps have a scale, determining how large objects on the map covers a large area of the geoid to a two-dimensional picture. Introduction Early maps were vague and there was often controversy as to where to centre the map are in relation to their actual size. The atlas can also be used to supplement the Beginner's World Atlas is full of bright, colorful maps, photos, interesting facts, and thought-provoking questions that reinforce basic geography concepts. The Cat in the Hat introduces beginning readers to maps-the different kinds (city, state, world, topographic, temperature, terrain, etc.); their formats (flat, globe, atlas, puzzle); the tools we use to read them (symbols, scales, grids, compasses); and funny facts about the places they show us ("Michigan looks like a scarf and a mitten! The purpose of such maps seem to not be intended as geographic, but rather to show the same area. One commonly used for navigation is the Mercator Projection; other popular projections are polar and a mitten!
