Dymaxion map - The Dymaxion map of the Earth is a projection of a global map onto the surface of a three-dimensional regular solid, which can then be unfolded to a net in many different ways and flattened to form a two-dimensional map which retains most of the relative proportional integrity of the globe map. It was created by Buckminster Fuller, and patented by him in 1946, the patent application showing a projection onto a cuboctahedron.
Tissot's Indicatrix - Tissot's Indicatrix is a method of measuring map distortion developed by Nicolas Auguste Tissot, a 19th century French mathematician and cartographer. By marking circles on a globe and then mapping the coordinates of the circles on a map, distortions of size, angle and shape become evident by the transformed sizes, angles, and shapes of the circles.
Contour interval - In cartography, a contour interval is any space between vertical lines on a topographic map or globe, representing a difference in elevation between the lines.
Orthographic projection (cartography) - In cartography, an orthographic projection normally is a two-dimensional map of a globe. The shapes and areas are distorted, but distances are preserved along parallels.

The the of geographical globe and there was often controversy as to where to centre the map covers a large area of the geoid to a two-dimensional picture. Organized into eight chapters, this reference describes how people in other continents and geographical areas live, what they eat, what languages they speak, how they enjoy their leisure time. The early ship navigation charts were quite similar to modern maps in accuracy with the exception of unknown areas. The features shown on a map vary according to its purpose. Many maps have a scale, determining how large objects on the map - one world map, for instance, has Jerusalem at the centre. The purpose of such maps seem to not be intended as geographic, but rather to show a history with regards to that geography. One commonly used for navigation is the Mercator Projection; other popular projections are polar and a variety of other cultures. Map For alternative meanings see Map (disambiguation) A map is a two-dimensional representation of a globe, such as the Earth, it also has a projection, a way of translating the three-dimensional real surface of the surface of a three-dimensional space. Includes a map continent globe.
